Air-to-Water Systems

Eco Green Save Ltd. supply, install, maintain and repair air to water heat pumps (air-to-water heating systems) throughout England.

What are Air-to-Water Heat Pumps?

Air to water heat pumps are a green energy solution that takes heat from the outside air and transfer it to a water-based system, allowing you to heat your home and providing you with hot water.

Air to water heat pumps are among the most efficient air source heat pumps on the market and can still extract usable heat from the environment when temperatures dip as low as -15°C.

Air to water heat pumps are covered by the government’s Renewable Heat Incentive scheme, as well as the new Green Homes Grant scheme, so as well as saving money on your bills, you could benefit from reduced installation costs and 7 years worth of payments from the government to reduce your running costs. Although you can use the Green Homes Grant towards your installation costs, the grant will be clawed back from your RHI payments, so where applicable, we tend to suggest using the Green Homes Grant to improve your home’s insulation (which will also reduce your running costs) and you will then receive the full RHI payments for the air to water system.

Advantages of Air-to-Water Systems

✅ Air to water heat pumps heat your home as well as your water

✅ Affordable. The overall costs (installation and running costs) are comfortably within the reach of people with average incomes.

✅ Able to transfer a significant amount of heat

✅ Highly efficient. For each 1kW of electricity, between 4kW and 5kW of heat are produced

✅ Easy to use. Simply set the temperature you want for the room

✅ Environmentally friendly – no harmful gases are released into the atmosphere.

DISADVANTAGES OF AIR TO AIR SYSTEMS

The main drawback of air to water heat pumps is that the performance is reliant on the outside air temperature. When the ambient temperature levels drop to -10° Celsius and below, the pump’s electric power consumption increases. Fortunately, these temperatures are rare in the UK, even during a colder than average winter.

You must have good insulation to get the most benefit from air to water system, as this will have the greatest influence on future savings.

Products We Recommend

Being an independent company, we are not tied to any particular manufacturer and can sell, install and service products from all of the leading manufacturers.

Having said that, we do have our own personal preferences. Having built up a decade worth of hands-on experience, we know which systems are technically the best and give the best value for money and which we feel most comfortable recommending to our customers.

We have no hesitation in recommending Daikin, Mitsubishi (ecodan®) and LG products. They are the BMW, Audi and Mercedes of the air to water heating world, in terms of design quality, aesthetics, functionality and value for money.
